Six ways to improve efficiency as a freelance designer-developer

Being efficient is crucial to your success as a freelancer if you are a designer-developer. Most businesses want high-quality products within a short time. Therefore, it is paramount to improve your delivery rate.

The following tips will help you perform better throughout your career.

  1. Specialise in one platform: By specialising in one platform, you will be able to become an expert. So, you will be able to understand all its tips and tricks to perform better under deadlines.

  2. Choose a low code platform that allows custom capabilities: This will help reduce writing code for generic tasks and let you focus on writing code for business-specific requirements.

  3. Use existing templates: If you are a better developer than a designer, this will help you save a ton of time, and you will be able to show a battle-tested website quickly.

  4. Artificial Intelligence: While AI will not do everything for you, it will still do quite a lot, such as generating images and creating text.

  5. Set up integrations to automate tasks: Use tools to help automate stuff. (Klaviyo, invoice generator, Google Sheets)

  6. Keep the code modular and reusable: Use Wix blocks and apps; as your business grows, you can use the existing apps in multiple projects, saving time, money and effort.

Example: I can use Wix Studio as a low-code solution that allows me to do custom coding tasks and provides existing templates and AI integrations to free up time. Further, I can use various native integrations such as Zapier, Amazon, and Google Ads. Finally, for any bit of custom work, I can create custom Wix Apps that I can use in my other projects.
