Two ways I will boost my efficiency as a developer in 2025

The end of the year is a time for reflection for me; one aspect of reflection is to look for areas of improvement in my current processes. In the coming year, I will do the following two things more. Anyone who runs an agency or is a freelancer would benefit from it!

  1. Using AI to generate content and assets

AI is the hottest thing in tech right now, and for a damn good reason!

If you have utilised AI in your work, you will have realised how much it can help you in your day-to-day activities. We might be getting to a point where not using AI could be a sincere disadvantage.

Generate 3D assets

Building 3D assets is time-consuming and requires a lot of hard work, and, in most cases, it is a skill set in itself. AI makes it very easy for you to generate custom assets.

If you are interested in 3D assets and how they can help bring flavour to your existing website, then this video will be able to help you!

Outside of building assets, AI can be used to generate images and text. Have a look at another blog from Merge here. It shows how generating images can help when building a branded website.

  1. Don't reinvent the wheel (Use Embeds, templates, Low Code Tools etc)

A developer's job is to build a product that benefits a business. The business problem should be the main focus. How you get to the endpoint is not something your client or the end user cares about (as long as it is legal and ethical). So, do not shy away from premade stuff

  • Is a template available that will slash your delivery time by half? Use it to have more time to polish the rest of the product. For example, if you use Wix Studio, many templates are available for various use cases, and you can then easily expand on them in case your use cases expand.

  • Can you integrate an iFrame rather than building your solution? Go for it! Unless your client has strict legal requirements that can't be met by using an iFrame. For example, using a Google Maps Embed to show your business location in Wix Studio is much simpler than writing all that code yourself.

Rather than reinventing the wheel every single time, focus on the business problem.

Do you have any reflections and improvements you will make for the coming year? If so, let me know so I can try it out!
