Up your networking game with AI as a Freelancer

Writer: Gursimar SinghGursimar Singh

Networking is becoming increasingly important in this tough climate for developers and freelancers. Therefore, it is essential to stand out from a sea of developers.

You can stand out by showing that you are a bit more tech-savvy than the average developer.

I have found that the people in tech are quite bullish on all things AI. So, why not show your AI savviness to potential clients?

Every time I am at a networking event, sooner or later, someone will bring out their QR code that links to their LinkedIn or portfolio website but most of the time they are quite bland. Their QR codes need a makeover.

I think AI has forever changed the QR code game. I don't think I will return back to normal QR codes after seeing the AI-generated QR codes. So, let's see how to build these for your website and stand out when sharing your details with clients.

Mini-workshop: Building fancy QR codes

  1. Find an AI QR code generator. In my case, I am using this one.

  2. Create a prompt based on the style of your brand. I just ended up asking ChatGPT about it. My screenshot is attached if you want to have a look.

Text describing an artistic prompt for a developer site aesthetic image, featuring a modern workspace, tech gadgets, and city skyline.

  3. Go to the website and add the URL that you want to QR code to go to. Most likely your website or LinkedIn. For demonstration purposes, I am using wix.com as I am assuming many of you would be using Wix Studio for your portfolio.

  4. Add the rest of the details. If you have any image in mind then use that as well. In my case, I think a prompt is enough.

  5. Click Run!

Futuristic workspace with a large neon QR code, glowing in purple and teal. Minimalist desk with an open notebook and pen.

  6. And there is it! I would much rather show this image to clients than a boring QR code.

Hopefully, this is a stepping stone on how you can use AI to improve your networking game. Please let me know if you have any suggestions as well.
